DAY 5
Home, Seattle Today was like a different planet. We ran a different ship today, and we set realistic goals which we were able to meet and we kept that ever-crucial crew of ours fed and "breaked"... not to mention, our cast - who, as much as their savvy, intelligence and maturity might try to convince us otherwise, are kids nonetheless. We worked them a long day yesterday, and as one of our dear 'parents' said to me, "it is a short-sighted strategy". All we need is for Bitta to get sick or something... oh boy. Kate really rose to the occasion today and did an excellent job at a position that she really knows very little about. The Assistant Director is not really an assistant to the director as one might assume. In theatre, it is much more like that for sure, but in film, the AD is a whole nother balla wax. Every one of those little movie-credits job names you see go by at the end of every movie... they all have such a specific essential job that you would go crazy just contemplating doing the movie without the gaffer or the first assistant camera. This journaling is difficult because of the level of fatigue I feel at the end of a day. You can see that is has been difficult for me to get the Jesses and Kate, Erika, Ethan or Paul to write much. We have taken on a Unit Publicist. Another essential job that someone can make a full time pursuit. We have to make our presence known and create some hype about this production and get in the media and on the news and everything. Magazine coverage potentially, or newspapers. Cindy Lamb is her name and having the great references at her sense of humor's beckon call than most people I ever meet... Oh my, I am actually doing that "nod-thing" you see people do on the bus... and I did it right here on the computer. Time for rest. Yes, rest. Much more soon... -Todd
