DAY 18
Tommy's Alley/sitting on a box in a warehouse, Snohomish, WA Well, I'm just about done with our last Call Sheet. The Last...but not the end. We still have some scenes to pick-up in September. However, the feeling that things are winding down has definitely set-in. This week has been filled with some incredible filming. The night cafe scene where it's raining. It's hard to imagine we had to create rain here in the Northwest. We saw the dailies for that day last night. WOW! Thursday it was the Dance Hall scene. A beautifully dressed set, spectacular lighting, an awesome dolly move. Movie making at its best!! But last night was the highlight for me...Tommy's Alley! Jesse Moore described this scene at the first production meeting I attended. I can still see him describing the scene and moving like the camera around the imaginary Tommy--Tommy hadn't been cast at that point. That scene came to life at that meeting! And last night Tommy's Alley and entry into his Dream World became a reality!! Ok, I have to finish the call sheet...the boys will be done soon and will need it. -Cassy
Tommy's Alley, Snohomish, WA Wow, I can't believe tomorrow is the last day. Grace's last day was yesterday because she starts school on Monday (and so do some of the actors who have to be there today and tomorrow). Even though it seems to have gone by fast, I look back and that first day of shooting seems so long ago. Since that first day, we documentarians have shot 36 hours of footage. And somehow we have to squeeze that into an hour or less documentary. Here are a few things that will help us do that:
Let's see... my favorite shot of the week... I think it would be at the dance hall, when Tommy first walks in, the lights are out, and he snaps his fingers and lights "magically' come on... and I clip to shots of grips flipping light switches and Karl in back at the electric board. Kind of takes the novelty away... but hey! Since we only have scattered weekends to edit the documentary, it will probably be a year before it is finished. Also that will allow us to get some footage of post-production. This will probably be my last entry, so I hope you enjoyed reading this and if you have any questions or comments or just want to say hi, EMAIL ME (superobin@cyberdude.com) and I will be happy to reply. -Robin
Tommy's Alley, Snohomish, WA Let's allow this day to go on record as a moment of silence. It's important to take a moment each day and take a look at where you are and what you are doing. Today, I am doing what I love. Are you? -Todd
